2025-26 Smart Start Week 30

This week, rainbows became our inspiration as friends explored color, movement, creativity, science, and imagination in a variety of meaningful ways.
In the Wiggle Room, friends wiggled, exercised, and worked together using our rainbow parachute. Friends also patiently waited while taking turns navigating the rainbow obstacle course. These activities encouraged balance, coordination, teamwork, and lots of joyful laughter.
During Explorations, friends investigated colors through hands-on science and art experiences. They observed fizzy reactions as vinegar and baking soda interacted, painted concentric circles to contribute to a collaborative Rainbow Fish piece, and discovered how Skittles create rainbows differently when placed in hot versus cold water. Friends also tasted foods representing every color of the rainbow and voted on whether each was “yummy” or “yucky,” leading to many expressive reactions and conversations.
Construction and engineering invitations inspired creativity in new ways. Friends built rainbow towers with Magna Tiles, designed spaceships using brightly colored Legos, and constructed homes with our rainbow big blocks. Some even discovered innovative ways to build by using magnetic building toys on the sides and bottoms of our metal shelves, exploring balance, gravity, and design from entirely new perspectives.
Sensory invitations included rainbow fidgets, scooping and pouring rainbow pasta, and racing cars through colorful setups. Friends also spent time in dramatic play caring for babies in the home center and shopping in the grocery store, continuing to build social connections through imaginative play.
We also enjoyed beautiful time outdoors together. Friends embraced the sunshine and friendship while drawing colorful creations with chalk, blowing bubbles into the spring air, and giggling together on the teeter totter. These simple moments often become the sweetest memories as children learn, play, and connect with one another.
This week also included opportunities for reflection, creativity, and writing as friends worked hard to create something special for Mother’s Day. These heartfelt sentiments are just as unique and meaningful as the hands that created them.
As our year begins winding down, these final days together are filled with fun, celebration, creativity, and the making of beautiful memories.
See you soon,
The Smart Start Team
