Creek Exploration
Nature, discovery, and hands-on exploration at The Creek for 1st-8th grade
Class Description
Creek Exploration Friday, June 19th 9:00am - 1:00pm 1st - 8th Grade (no exceptions) Located at ArtWorks at the Creek Students will experience The Creek like never before—splashing through shallow waters, discovering hidden waterfalls, identifying native plants, and searching for creek critters like salamanders, crawdads, frogs, insects, and more. This exploration will be led by two experienced science educators: Mr. Mat Luttrell and Mr. Chad Von Gruenigen. Many students already know Mr. Mat, who has a strong background in science and environmental studies. Joining him this year is Mr. Chad, a geologist whose expertise will help students better understand the natural world around them. Together, they will guide students in discovering the fascinating ecosystems, wildlife, geology, and natural features that make The Creek such a unique place to explore and learn. There will be plenty of walking in the water, so students should be prepared to get wet from head to toe. It will be a hands-on, unforgettable adventure in nature. What to Bring & Wear: Creek-appropriate shoes with good grip (no flip-flops or loose sandals—rocks can be slippery!) Sunscreen and bug spray A packed lunch Refillable water bottle labeled with your child’s name A towel and a change of clothes Device Policy: To help keep students fully engaged and safe during creek exploration, phones and personal devices must be left with their belongings at the cabin. This helps prevent distractions, potential injuries, and damage to devices from water or drops. Staff members will carry their phones in waterproof packs for photos and emergencies. Parents will be provided one of their phone numbers incase they need to reach their child during the exploration. Please email admin@artworksrc.org with any questions.
