This week was full of excitement as we met new friends, discovered new tools and explored new places! We learned about things we will do all year and ways to travel throughout our learning environment safely. As super scientists, we used our five senses to conduct experiments and simulated the spreading of germs. Everyone brainstormed and practiced ideas to keep each other healthy by using tissues, hand sanitizer, and handwashing (with soap).
Our Imagination Station was bustling with friends preparing birthday cakes, stews and meals fit for a king! Building tools were used to engineer towers and train tracks that would take passengers to unknown destinations that were accompanied by stories that would be told with ease. Artists filled the table to mix their own unique signature color of paint to use throughout the year. They also used watercolor paints to paint enough animals to fill a zoo! Friends worked together to find and match letters while others chose to pick a friend to cozy up with and read in the Quiet Corner.
Needless to say, we shared a lot of stories, made new friends and found a lot of new things this week. We already see that we are in the company of engineers, problem solvers, critical thinkers, dancers, actors and artists! This year is off to an amazing start with so much more to come!
Keep in mind we are constantly moving and burning energy. Your child expends loads of loads of physical, mental, emotional and relational energy at Smart Start. Please send enough food to replenish that loss and refuel them for the rest of our day. We are together for 4 hours which means your child likely needs a small meal rather than a small snack in order to be full and satisified. They also need a full bottle of water each day in order to stay hydrated during very active play.
Please remember to utilize Remind if you need to reach out to us. We look forward to seeing you next week!
