Our first three days of Smart Start have been filled with excitement, curiosity, and lots of practice! We explored how to travel to our different spaces, learned how to use our tools and toys, and spent time playing and connecting with new friends. It’s been a joyful start to a year of discovery and creativity!
Our friends were absolutely delighted with the baby dolls this week! They cared for them, carried them everywhere, and created endless pretend play stories full of love and imagination.
Our Home Center was another popular invitation. Friends took turns cooking, cleaning, and caring, showing how naturally they step into roles and stories together. It has been a joyful space for imagination, cooperation, and friendship to grow.
Our building invitations sparked so much creativity this week! They explored blocks, loose parts, and other materials to design towers, houses, and whole little worlds. Through building, they practiced problem-solving, teamwork, and persistence in numerous ways.
Circle time has quickly become a favorite part of our day, giving us a chance to come together, share ideas, and build community. During explorations, we have been investigating early science and art concepts—observing, experimenting, and learning to express their discoveries in different ways. Our fine motor invitations, are helping strengthen little hands while also encouraging focus and independence.
This week was full of learning through play! Friends worked on puzzles and building tall towers, strengthening problem-solving skills and perseverance. Alphabet activities and journaling gave them chances to explore letters, sounds, and early writing, while time spent playing with friends helped grow cooperation, kindness, and joy in our classroom community.
Our sensory invitations were a big hit this week! The children squished, molded, and created with kinetic sand and unicorn fluff, engaging their senses while building fine motor skills. At the Magnatiles racetrack, imaginations raced as cars zoomed, and in the Wiggle Room, we practiced stepping to the beat—moving our bodies, building rhythm, and having so much fun together.
It’s been a wonderful start filled with curiosity, creativity, and connection. Each day, the children are growing more confident in their routines, discovering new ways to express themselves, and building friendships along the way. We can’t wait to see all the learning and joy the weeks ahead will bring!
Have a great weekend,
The Smart Start team
