Week 12: K is for Kisses

It's February, Valentine's Day is right around the corner, and we are talking about kindness and love!

Week 12 was short, but oh so sweet! We created with Valentine Play Dough, painted giant hearts, and used glitter.....lots of glitter!

Letter of the week: K

Book of the Week: Froggy's First Kiss by Jonathan London

In celebration of Valentine's day and the letter K, we created our own foil kisses.

Last week, our science experiment was all about water in all its forms. This week, we built on that with some tasty science. Each student got a Hershey's Kiss and we asked them to predict what would happen if they held it in their mouths without chewing. We recalled how the ice from last week melted in their trays because our classroom is warmer than the freezer.

Circle Time and Creative Movement

We learn and review letters, their shapes, and sounds in a variety of ways. We say them, sing them, and write them in the air with our "magic markers". We sign, rhyme, dance, and stretch each and every letter.

In preparation for next week, we started working on our post office. Students worked together to paint cubbies that will serve as their post office boxes.

Next week, we will fill these boxes with Valentines from sweet friends!
