Smart Start 2023-2024: Week 22

Smart Start on the Go!

We started the week at the Russell County Public Library and it was SPECTACULAR. The installation from the Kentucky Science Center is like Smart Start at RCPL. Full of play and learning invitations, Science In Play2Go invites children to explore, experiment, and experience science, literacy, math, and social concepts through play. Play is the work of children and it's how we approach everything we learn at Smart Start!

We took our entire Smart Start day to the library. Everything from art and centers to snacks, music, and movement. Here's a look at our day at the Russell County Public Library:

We are so thankful for the incredible RCPL staff who welcomed our students with warmth and enthusiasm. We have one of the best libraries in the state of Kentucky and that is so evident in the way they have presented this Kentucky Science Center Exhibit along with all of their stellar programs. We highly encourage all of our Smart Start families to check out all RCPL has to offer. Story times, the Imagination Library, monthly programs, and of course BOOKS! If you do not have a library card, stop in with your child and get the whole family set up this week!

Science in Play2Go runs until April 20th. Smart Start will be headed back to RCPL in April for another full day of play!

Letter M week continued once we were back in the classroom on Tuesday. We experimented with magnets and metal, created art like Matisse, and built tracks to race marbles. We painted waterlilies like Monet and learned about impressionism and we went on a musical instrument scavenger hunt. We played memory games and solved mysteries and we used our fingers to mix colors. A truly MAGNIFICENT week!
