Fresh (Smart) Start
There is something magical and thrilling about a new beginning. This week was buzzing will all that NEW excitement. Wednesday felt like Christmas morning. The children just wanted to see, open, and do EVERYTHING. Friday, was like Christmas afternoon. You know that moment when the frenzy is over and your child settles in with that one gift and really slows down and enjoys it? That is what Friday felt like. The atmosphere was sweet, peaceful, and so very content.
We can already see how this space is going to serve us well.
After a couple days of just acclimating to the space, we are looking forward to next week and picking up our learning adventures. We will jump back into our Environmental Experiences and Getting Little Feet Wet curricula with a study of water, winter, and all things icy.
Thank you for all the compliments and kind words of encouragement this week. We loved hearing all the feedback from parents and especially the stories of children coming home and describing their favorite parts of our classroom. Many of you asked this week if there was anything else we needed. If you would like to donate something to our classroom, we have started a Smart Start Wishlist on Amazon. We LOVE books. If you have gently used books at home that you would like to share, we will gladly add them to our collection. We like to play and learn with real materials. Kitchen utensils, wood pieces, pine cones, hats, ties, seed trays, watering cans, etc. If you have something you think we might be able to use, bring it in! If we can't use it, we will pass it along to someone who can.
REMINDER: There is no school in Russell County on Monday, January 20th in observance of Martin Luther King Jr Day. That means a short week for Smart Start. We will see you on Wednesday, January 22nd.
