2022/2023: Week 6

This week was all about the Letter I! From ice to iguanas, Week 6 was full of investigation.

Our learning and play invitations this week included:

  • An ice cream shop

  • Measuring in inches

  • Weaving in and out

  • Iguana painting and study

  • Building inspired by the book Iggy Peck Architect

  • Imagine What It Could Be Challenge

  • Ice Painting

  • Scarecrow Sensory Bin

  • Puzzles

  • Continued shape study

  • Journaling and name writing

Our science lessons this week involved ice and ice cream. We are beginning to learn about states of matter and how temperature changes things. Students used their observation skills to identify different liquids and then predicted which ones would freeze and how fast. We are learning basic ideas about gathering and organizing data.

In addition to predictions about which liquids would freeze, we also made our own ice cream in the classroom followed by topping and taste-testing.

Fine arts invitations this week included moving on different levels and exploring pathways and an introduction to music. Students explored the difference between noise and music, were introduced to percussion instruments and took their first steps toward playing music together!
